Website: THE ATLANTIS BOOKSHOP | The living history of magic
Tucked away on Museum Street, within yodelling distance of the British Museum, is an unusual little bookshop called Atlantis. Selling books on magic and the occult, it’s not just for Sabrinas, Willows and Samanthas* but I was initially too scared to go in! It’s a family-run bookshop and has been in operation for over 100 years. Its website claims to be London’s oldest independent occult bookshop and is currently owned and run by mother and daughter Geraldine and Bali.
As well as new books you can also pick up second-hand ones including rare and antiquarian books. The shop holds events and sells everything magic related from jewellery to tarot cards and even cauldrons. If you’re looking for a quirky bookshop in Bloomsbury pop over here.
*If you don’t immediately recognise these three witches names I feel kind of bad for you. Its time to up your TV game. If you prefer, we can pretend that I’m more highbrow than I choose to be in real life and substitute the three names above with Margot, Baba Yaga and La Voisin.
